Panama actually started its marketing campaign for tourism heavily in 1996. This was because most in the world new little of this tropical paradise. Most new of this small stretch of land, was that it had a big ditch joining the two oceans but few could ever relate to this country as a vacation/travel resort. Another seemingly little known fact is that Panama City is actually very metropolitan and modern. There is a lot to do in Panama. There are tours available to all of these places. You can even go 'remote' and visit the San Blas Islands where the Kuna Indians reside. These natives have been allowed to keep their autonomy since the 1920s. They are basically their own society with their native dance, dress, music, customs, legends, language, and monetary instruments. The Kuna Indians also make many crafts. They create Molas which are colorful crafts representing the tropical scenery and wildlife.
